Re-watching SATC

Didn't go Taipei for the weekend. Stayed back in UCL to s-t-u-d-y instead.
1) I gained a better understanding of the Fabless Industry (5 chapters no less)


2) Also know that Mobile Handsets are to Dominate Image Sensor Market Through 2011 (A 50-page industry report no less!)

Riveting stuff

I was in geekland. ULU geekland no less. To counter all that geekiness, I had to re-watch SATC. Need of some glam factor to make me feel less geeky. Started off with Season 5. Mine it was addictive! I finished the entire season in one night.

Watching season 5 for the 2nd time, Richard & Samantha became my favourite couple:
i. Samantha who never falls in love easily actually fell in love in spite of her better judgement.
ii. Richard the rich & powerful hotelier.Bad boy by nature but tries to reform.
iii) They are both rich, good looking & glamourous.
How to resist characters like that?!

My fav part is the scene at the poolside: After a skinny dipping &/ hot sex session, Richard made Samantha open her heart to him by inviting her to dance.

PS I Love You

Caught this movie on the plane.
The story line is really old fashion, like an angmo Qiong Yao. But it has got a damn solid cast - Hilary Swank, Kathy Bates, Lisa Kudrow & the latest object of my desire Jeffrey Dean Morgan!!!!!!!

In the movie he plays a charming and sexy Irish singer. Throw in a tight t-shirt, tattoo, Irish accent & that devastating smile... I am in love...

For those that follow Grey's Anatomy, he was Katherine Heigl's love interest ... yeah the one that died.

Romantic rides

A couple of nights ago, this lifestyle prog in Taiwan declared Moscow as the "hottest travel destination of 2008". That feature brought back fond memories of Russia, in particular, the soviet era metro. Soft, warm lighting & old fashion trains. It was a romantic ride everytime.

I don't understand. Why does it take 7 HOURS by train to get to KL?
Spore: supposedly 1ST world, 1ST class, world class, wants to be like NY, London etc etc
Msia: Don't they have this 2020 Vision thingy?
So again: 7 freaking hours to KL?!

I have a confession to make...

Sometimes, just sometimes, when I am in a room filled with over polite people & there they are, all trying to out-praise one another: "Oh u are so great!! XXX team is full of talented people!..." or "Oh it's been hard on you... no, no, no what I do is nothing compared to what you do..."

I just want to go: OH SHUT UP & CAN WE GET STARTED??!!

It think it might be PMS.

Back in sunny Spore!

09-20th April: Back in Spore!!! Everything felt so good right from the moment I touch down.

The sparkling new T3 is such a contrast to the gloomy, depressing Taiwan CKS sorry TAOYUAN Airport. I know it's clique but I am really proud of our airport hahaha.

It's so good to be back to an environment that people do not sugarcoat their words: My sisters' constant jab at my clothes having grown soooo tight, colleagues making fun of me being fair & fat, the lau cha bos never mincing their words as always calling me "ah fat!".

Best of all, I miss TALKING SHOP IN ENGLISH!! Not that I have to struggle in Taiwan... my chinese is not that bad. But it's just feels so much better to hold discussions in Eng/Singlish!To me my points seem more convincing in English!

A colleague who was based in Taiwan for 2 year told me: "Trust me, the more often u come back, the more u will miss home & the less u want to go back..."

I think I am beginning to know that he means.

The high life

Had an atas dinner at Ziga Zaga, a well known restaurant/bar at Hyatt. Taipei 101 is connected to the hotel via an overhead bridge, which was where I took this shot. Hmmmm I could get used to this sort of life... one can always dream right?

- My sisters suggested buying one for mom as a Xmas present.
- There is Longchamp boutique next to departure gate C5 in the CKS Airport. SQ871 always departs at that gate.
- On one particular flight SQ871 was delayed. Bored with waiting, I wondered into the Longchamp next door to take a look.
- The rest is history.

According to my sis, it's a staple with Parisan women. Well, it's my staple now! I'm eyeing the long handle one in silver next... or the terracota... the brown is also nice... come to think of it, so is the short handle one... or I may need small lilac one to match my luggage...

春天文學風 is blowing in Verigy!

春天文學風 translates loosely into "Literature in Spring". During this time, we are all encouraged to bring our favourite books & recommend them to our colleagues. The response is pretty good!

The organizing committee even printed posters & decorated the office entrance. Great effort! Events like that adds colour to our mundane office life.



Confession: When I 1st saw the poster, i thought it was about astrology... why? Coz I selectively read words on the poster & thought it was something to do with "天文學" heehee

We all move on... Ah Bao: Best Wishes & don't you dare forget us!

I shared some of the best memories of my life with Ah Bao... counsellors in freshmen orientation camp, rag & flag, and THE Europe trip together with Twink (8 years ago!!!! The PRE-EURO DAYS!!!) These are memories I'll treasure forever.

She has married this great guy & will be moving to Japan, the land of her dreams! I am thrilled for her, but at the same time, there is this sense of nostalgia....

but growing up aren't that bad... come on 30 IS the new 21 right?!
