I guess CNY in Taiwan is really just family time. People here mostly work away from their hometown. So come CNY, everyone goes back home (mainly to the south) & spend as much time with their family as possible. In the days leading up to CNY, there will be a mad rush for southbound train tickets & jams in highways heading south. Perhaps this is the "CNY mood" in Taiwan...
Nevertheless, it was fun welcome the Year of the Rat with The Clan. Haven't done this in a long long time.
On the 3rd day of CNY, we went for an overnight trip to the Sitou Forest Recreation Area. About 2 hours drive from Tainan. It an entire forest area around 1500m above sea level - Imagine going hiking in genting during winter!
Funny thing is I can't find both San Xi Lin & Sitou in my LP guide...
